New editing AI features have been added to Adobe Lightroom

Adobe introduced AI-powered image editing features to Lightroom last year.

These functions have been significantly improved in the new version of the program, Adobe Lightroom 2022, as have new tools that make it easy to select people and even individual parts of the body, objects, or backgrounds with a single click of the mouse.

The first is the Highlight People tool, which employs Adobe's Sensei AI to highlight individuals and groups, as well as specific body parts like facial or body skin, eyes, teeth, lips, hair, and more.

The tool is surprisingly simple to use: when you upload a photo, Adobe artificial intelligence recognizes all the people in the scene and allows you to select the element you want to edit - the skin of the face or body, teeth, eyes, and so on.

After that, you can make any necessary changes to this element, such as changing the color or hue, brightness, contrast, increasing clarity, and so on.

The Object Selector feature has been greatly enhanced. To highlight a rose, for example, simply paint over it with a brush or draw a rectangle around it, and the AI will automatically refine the edges to create an accurate mask. Similarly, rather than inverting the selection of an object, you can easily select the entire background of an image with a single click.

If you need to completely remove an object from an image, the improved Content-Aware Remove feature makes it easier than ever. All you have to do now is draw a mask around the object you want to remove, and the AI will fill in the background automatically based on the surrounding content. The Refresh option adds the ability to select the sample area for finer quality control of the result.

As is customary, new tools and features may work well with some images but not with others. As a result, they may require manual adjustment, particularly when working with complex backgrounds that are difficult for AI to distinguish from the foreground or background.

However, in most cases, artificial intelligence works really fine. However, in the majority of situations, artificial intelligence produces a respectable result and frequently chooses all the required objects correctly on the first try.

In addition, Lightroom 2022 has been updated to run more quickly with newer GPU types and has a new Edit Comparison tool that enables you to upload two photographs for better comparison. If you like to see color adjustments on the left, Lightroom Classic now positions the Stage panel from left to right. It also offers a quicker mobile import process (Windows only).

Although HDR is still in development, Adobe's Camera Raw announced support for it and added masking curves.

As of right now, you may upgrade to the new version of Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, or Adobe Camera RAW via Adobe Creative Cloud. You can read more about all the new features on the Lightroom Blog.
