Sadly, memories cannot be retained by the human memory indefinitely, and even our most vivid experiences gradually lose their vibrancy. Since it is hard to recall every day of our lives, there are moments when we just choose to forget about the past, and other times we substitute one memory for another.

However, I believe that it would be fascinating to look back at remnants of youth and relive joyful times, memorable occasions, and even ordinary everyday concerns from the past. After all, things change, and we do too. We are unable to navigate through frozen frames, and they are getting progressively more hazy and muddled by the day. And perhaps for that very reason, we find it hard to envision our lives today without photography — an amazing human creation that lets you halt time and seize a crucial moment. This finding swiftly became a necessary component of daily existence.

When was the first picture taken?

It's amazing to think that the first photographs were taken in the world about 200 years ago, in 1826, and attempts to take pictures date back even further. You won't believe how long it took French inventor Joseph Nieps — who worked on this discovery for a long while — to take the first snapshot in human history — eight hours! All it required to capture a still landscape was that, and the image quickly became known as "View from the window." And now let's not forget how long it takes, at most five minutes, to snap a selfie, select a lovely filter, and post it to Instagram!

The camera underwent extensive development before taking on its iconic form, and although you might believe that prominent picture studios emerged much later, they were actually around as early as the eighteenth century! The first photo studios, which were very different from the ones that exist today, were called such when they were first established in France, Germany, and England in the 1840s and 1850s. Additionally, the audience consisted of only about twenty-five persons. Apart from the camera and tripod, there was undoubtedly a chair and a head clamp in the salon. As the frame exposure required many minutes, the customer had to be fixed in one position, which was a questionable pleasure, don't you think?

Professional photo studios are widely available these days, and they can quickly produce dozens of stunning images for you without the need of head brackets! Only places were left of the general, as individuals used to enjoy having their photos taken against painted backgrounds. It's true now; they can create a background of any hue and preference for you. Without a doubt, photography is a complete art form with a rich and fascinating past.

We are extremely happy that we can finally experience it in the form of a life. Professional photographers, however, are the ones who really bring life and beauty to memories.
