Instructions - sharing Images from Lightroom Classic via Lightroom Mobile

If you use Lightroom Classic, you probably like to or want to share photos from there. You can export the image and share it, but did you know there's another way?

Once upon a time, there was Lightroom Mobile, which offered a way of sharing images. Lightroom Mobile has become an app called Lightroom.

As you might (or might not) know, everything that was great and functional between Lightroom Classic and the Lightroom Mobile lives on in the Lightroom Cloud.

The good news is that it provides that second option we mentioned earlier for sharing your images! It's cross-functional with various devices, meaning you can move pictures from Lightroom Classic to tablets, phones, or other computers. It's easy to do and simple enough that you'll actually use it for sharing your images. Easy and simple equals time-saving!

Here's how to launch the process from Lightroom Classic via Lightroom Cloud

  1. Enable syncing between your Lightroom Classic catalog and Lightroom Cloud is the first thing you'll need to do. Without it, you won't be able to share.

  2. Sync Photos from Lightroom Classic to Lightroom Ecosystem will be your next step so you can share them. Note that when you sync, only a smart preview (of no more than 2560 pixels on the long side) is stored in your Lightroom cloud, and smart previews don't count against your cloud storage limit.

That means you can manage your photo library in Lightroom Classic but only sync those images to the cloud you want to share. All your Lightroom Classic settings will transfer to the Lightroom Cloud once synced. This allows you to modify them in Lightroom whenever you want.

  3. Cropping images for your desired aspect ratio is possible now that you've synced between Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Cloud. That means you can crop according to the social media platform you'll use to share your photos.

  4. You can share from Lightroom once the photos are done syncing.

Steps for Sharing (using Instagram as an example)

  1. Select the image and tap the Share icon.

2. Sharing options will appear.

  3. Select the settings icon next to "Share to."

  4. Then configure file type, dimensions, image quality, and output sharpening.

5. Once everything is configured, select the checkmark to accept those settings. It will return to sharing options.

  6. Tap the "Share to" icon to access all the output options. (Options will vary according to your personalized system.)

  7. Press on the Instagram icon and choose Open in the app to send your photo to the Instagram app.

  8. Complete the sharing process on Instagram as if you had opened Instagram directly.

  9. You can use this same process for sharing on other social media platforms. You can share the image using whatever output options (such as texting) you have on your mobile device.

We hope you found these helpful and time-saving for sharing your images from Lightroom Classic through the Lightroom app!
